What We’re All About
Foundations First TO is a results-based organization at the forefront of addressing topics not adequately covered in the traditional curriculum.
The "one-size-fits-all" approach to teaching, and the content within the curriculum often falls short of preparing all secondary students for life beyond high school. Additionally, the actual content taught is often outdated, only theoretical, and does not explain the practical - or in other words, how it can be used in real life and why it matters. Our most vulnerable youth are academically disengaged and their post-secondary schooling and work prospects are damaged.
We are a youth-led team that deals directly with bridging knowledge and opportunity gaps for vulnerable youth across the GTA. We conduct our own educational programming on a cohort-basis that addresses key topics not adequately covered by the traditional curriculum, such as financial literacy and critical thinking.
We also host and participate in networking events that bring together youth and professionals, connecting our current and future leaders.

This summer Foundations First held an event that brought together many of our community members, students, professionals, associates and more. A vast array of multicultural food, drinks, music and entertainment were provided!

This will be a convening of all City of Toronto Youth Councils at City Hall, coming together to discuss the themes of making change and entrepreneurship. This day will be led in part by FF leadership alongside city staff and select community partners.
